Andriy Yarmolenko, Artem Kravets and Lukasz Teodorczyk scored the goals as FC Dynamo Kyiv won 3-1 against FC Steaua București to make it two wins from two in UEFA Europa League Group J.
Having struck nine times between them on matchday one, both sides started strongly, Kravets failing to poke the ball into the net after Jeremain Lens' cross from the left. Dynamo soon took control of possession and territory but, despite their pressure, Steaua goalkeeper Giedrius Arlauskis was not called into action until the 40th minute, when Younes Belhanda played a clever pass from a free-kick into the penalty area and home captain Yarmolenko volleyed in.
Before that, Lens had wasted a fine one-on-one chance and, at the other end, Olexandr Rybka had deflected Alexandru Chipciu's close-range attempt on to the crossbar. Soon after the interval, another rehearsed set-piece combination between Belhanda and Yarmolenko resulted in the latter's low shot forcing Arlauskis to save.
Though further chances went begging, Dynamo were two to the good midway through the second half, Yarmolenko teeing up Kravets for a first-time finish. Steaua briefly made the hosts sweat when Raul Rusescu pulled one back with a header, but Teodorczyk had the final word in added time. [uefa.com] |
