Dinamo Zagreb's European adventure came to an end for another season as they were beaten 2-1 at home by Timisoara in their final Europa League encounter. The result was ultimately academic with Anderlecht beating Ajax in Thursday`s other Group A encounter to claim the remaining qualification berth to the last 32, but the hosts will be unhappy at failing to defeat the perceived group minnows on home turf. The Croatians fell behind when Gheorghe Bucur opened the scoring for the hosts midway through the second period but parity was restored when Cristian Scutaru put through his own net inside the final 10 minutes. Timisoara dug deep to find a second goal as Dorin Goga lashed home six minutes from time to secure the Romanians their first victory in the group stage. The visitors bossed the early exchanges, and Alexandru Bourceanu among a host of Timisoara players to set his sights in the opening 10 minutes but Dinamo goalkeeper Tomislav Butina was equal to his effort. Dinamo carved out their first chance after 13 minutes when Mario Mandzukic's header was saved by Pedro Taborda. Timisoara 's Stelian Stancu pumped an effort in from distance in the 24th minute which drew a smart tip-over from Butina, while Miroslav Slepicka drew saves from Taborda either side of the interval as Dinamo began to assert some pressure. Luis Ibanez also saw an effort punched to safety by Taborda, but Timisoara soaked up the pressure and took the lead against the run of play after 68 minutes. Bucur created and converted the chance himself, cutting in from the right wing and firing in a low cross-cum-shot into the far corner. The hosts were level nine minutes from time when Scutaru miscued the ball into his own net as he attempted to clear Ilija Sivonjic's cross, but parity lasted just three minutes as Bucur played in Goga to fire home from the edge of the area and seal a welcome three points for the visitors.
